Video Notetaking

Video Notetaking

Eloquent provides the a streamlined experience for taking notes on videos.

Use keyboard shortcuts to timestamp and control the video without switching back and forth between the video and your notes.

Enabling

When you activate Eloquent on a web page with a video (e.g on youtube.com), you will see the video controls appear at the bottom of the notepad.

Playback Controls

You can control the video playback directly from the notepad while you take notes, using the following keyboard shortcuts:

  • ctrl+k - Play/Pause
  • ctrl+j - Rewind backwards 5 seconds
  • ctrl+l - Skip forward 5 seconds
  • ctrl+i - Insert timestamp

Timestamps

You can insert a timestamp for the current point in the video using the hotkey ctrl+i or clicking the timestamp icon in the video controls.

Clicking on that timestamp link will jump back to that point in the video.

Exported Notes

When you save or copy your notes from the Eloquent notepad into another application (e.g Notion, Google Docs, Bear), your timestamps will be preserved as links to the video at that point in time. You can click on the timestamp links in those applications to open the video and jump to to that point.
